Delinda (Molly Sims) discovers a wonderful new pastry chef that is sweet on the surface, but after a few days of her sour attitude she wants to fire her. Meanwhile, Mike (James Lesure) thinks he has found the woman of his dreams, but when he discovers her past, he has reservations about them being together.

Hi, this is John from Buddy TV, and we're talking to Gary Scott Thompson, the executive producer and creator of the NBC series Las Vegas. How are you doing, Gary?

I'm great, thanks.

OK now, your show is about to enter its fifth season. When you started, were you expecting it to last this long?

Not to sound arrogant, but that's always the plan, to get it to 100 episodes. At the time I actually thought we had something that wasn't on the air, that no one was doing. It was five seasons ago, so there was a lot of procedural dramas, a lot of cop stories. There was no one who was really doing anything fun, that was just fun and funny, and just pure entertainment. I thought we had a good shot.

And before you started on television, you were involved in feature films, you wrote The Fast and the Furious. What brought you to television?

Actually, TV came looking for me, to tell you the truth. After The Fast and the Furious…actually, I'll back that up. I had been approached by TV for a number of years and had really avoided it, just because of the hours. The hours in TV are extremely long, and it's basically a 24/7 job, and I had little kids and just really didn't think that was fair to them. I wanted to be there and see them take their first steps, and just take them to school and do all those great things. And so I avoided it for a number of years, until my kids got into school. And then after The Fast and the Furious, sort of the offers were fast and furious. Every studio in town wanted to develop something with me for TV, and I had a great relationship with the people at NBC, and that sort of happened.

When Las Vegas eventually runs its course, would you ever want to do television again? Or have you been turned off the medium?

No, I love the medium, I've always been a TV addict, even as a kid, I remember it was the greatest thing in the world. My mother, I'd come home from school I'd turn on the TV and she would yell at me and say I'd never get anywhere in life if I sit around and watching TV all day, which I remind her of constantly.

As an executive producer and creator of the show, what exactly do you do on the show? Because the writer and the director and the actor, that's all clear. But executive producer, a lot of people are unclear on what that person does.

As an exec producer on a show, and in this case it's called a show runner, where you're in charge of everything. You're in charge of budgets, you're in charge of casting. You're in charge of hiring the directors, hiring the writers, overseeing every script, making sure that all the voices are correct, and dealing with the actors, dealing with the production. Basically everything you could think of. I also write and I also direct, so I'm involved in all facets of those. The biggest thing I think as the show runners are making sure that the scripts are uniform, that the voices are always constant. That the storylines actually make sense, and that they are consistent throughout the entire season. And then you go into the editing room and do all the cuts.

Obviously the big change with the new season that everyone's talking about is the departure of James Caan, one of the show's stars and being replaced by Tom Selleck. How did that all come about?

Well, I don't like to use the word “replaced,” because first of all, I don't think you can replace Jimmy Caan, and second he's not replacing in terms of the same character doing the same thing. Tom Selleck's coming in as the new owner of the Montecito. As our loyal fans know, we sort of have a problem with our owners. They fly off the roofs of buildings, they get eaten by giant squids, they end up in prison for doing bad things. So it'll be interesting to see if Mr. Selleck's character, A.J. Cooper can stay around longer than the previous owners. In terms of Jimmy's departure, he just wanted to go off and do features again, and four years is a lifetime in this business. Especially with someone who's sort of, I guess for lack of a better word, approaching the end of his career. And that's only because age-wise, as we grow we start to lose out on job. I think Jimmy just really wanted to go off and do features again before he felt he couldn't. He'd taken himself out of them for four entire years, and as I said, this town has a very short-term memory. I think he just wanted to jump back in while he could.

Definitely. And I'm just wondering with getting Tom Selleck, when you realized, “We need a new owner for the Montecito.” Was there a big casting process? Did you figure in and say, “Tom Selleck, that's the guy we want.” Or how did that work?

Yeah, it was pretty much that. There was no big casting processs. When word started to come down, I mean what happened with Jimmy is every year he'd say, “Hey Gar, I got this offer to do a feature, can I do it?” And I'm like, “You can't, because we're…first season we had 23 episodes, second season 24.” You're talking about 10 months out of a year, which is a very small window then to do a feature. Features are anywhere from 30 days to 120 days, and to try and fit them in is pretty tough. And so when Jimmy said “I want to go back and do features,” and we realized that we'd be losing him as well, as we lost Nikki Cox too.

The only one that really came to my mind and one of my casting directors, Camille Patton and my wife, I'll have to give her credit too, was Tom Selleck. All three of us sort of came to the conclusion at the same time, and my wife and my casting director kind of called me within seconds of each other, and said, “Hey, Tom Selleck. Now that's easy to say, but to actually get the man was very difficult, considering he hasn't been a series regular since Magnum [P.I.]. So we floated it out there to his people, and I don't know why, but Tom just called me out of the blue one day and said, “Hey, I'd like to come in and talk you about this.” It was very interesting, because this call and he was like, “Hey Gary, this is Tom Selleck.” And I'm like, “Ooh, cool.” So he came in, and we sat and talked for probably about 14 or 15 hours over seven or eight days. Two hours at a time every day, and just sort of talked through what the show was, what the new character was. And Tom's been very crucial in sort of defining and coming up and helping with who this character is. When you bring someone in new like that, when you're talking about the fifth season of a show, they better be very good.

Exactly. And how is the rest of the cast? Because a lot of people who've been there since the beginning, how do they deal with such a huge shuffle of the stars?

I think that they were a little surprised at first, possibly that there was gonna be a big shuffle. They understand it, people come and people go on TV. They've seen it happen on shows that they liked, the revolving doors on Law and Order and ER, and other shows that are on NBC. It's very common, they knew from day one that this could potentially happen. Especially with someone like Jimmy who's a big movie star, and they also because they're here everyday, know what a grind this is, know how hard it is. Every one of them has had feature offers that they had to turn down, because they couldn't do it. So they know that he's had a lot more because of who he is.

So I think they really understood it, I think it might have been a little bit of a shock at the beginning. But then they understood it, then when they heard Tom Selleck was potentially coming, and once we'd got him signed they were like, “Are you kidding me? How did you get him?” So they were very excited about it. And what it does is really sort of inject new life into the show, because you have not just a new cast member, you have a new actor. A new person, a new persona. I mean, Tom Selleck is a TV icon, and so I think everyone's excited about that. And to a person, all of our remaining cast members, not one of their mothers has been more excited than the other. I mean, the moms are so excited about this. Molly's mom, Josh's mom, like “Oh my God, it's Tom Selleck.” So it's been really good.

With the new season, the new dynamic, can you give our readers anything to look forward to? Are there any big things going on in Las Vegas this year?

Yeah. Where we left off last year was a massive cliffhanger, with every character potentially in jeopardy. We had Vanessa Marcil's character Sam being kidnapped, put in a truck and flown away by one of her whales, Vince Peterson. We had James Lesure's character Mike Cannon chasing after her at the airport. We had Nikki Cox's character Mary Connell at a bar, potentially shooting her father with Josh Duhamel's character, Danny McCoy. And with Jimmy Caan's character Ed Deline, all three of them potentially killing Mary's father. And then we had Molly Sims' character DeLinda Deline in a suite with one of Danny's buddies from the Marine Corps, who has a bomb. There's been an explosion at the end of the season, and that's where we sort of left off. So to say that there's gonna be some changes would be an understatement.

So we've picked up right where we left off, I mean literally, the two seasons overlap each other. It's a fantastic two-hour season premiere, and we premiere on September 28 at 9 on Friday night. And then we're moving to a new time slot at 10 on Friday nights, which I think is gonna be great for the show, because It allows us to push the envelope a little bit more.

But we've got the Danny and DeLinda relationship where we left off, DeLinda's pregnant and Danny doesn't know it. We don't know who killed Mary's father, we don't know if Sam's gonna survive or what's gonna happen to Sam up in this plane with her whale. So that's where we take off, and then also we have the whole thing with the character played by Dean Cain, who's the previous owner. Casey Manning, who was eaten by a giant squid, has left $241 million in back taxes to be paid by his ex-wife Vanessa Marcil, who plays Sam. And she's trying to figure out some way to buy the place, so her and Ed Deline are trying to buy the Montecito, and that's where Tom Selleck's character comes in. He's the new owner, and we see what he's done. So obviously we have a hole in the side of the building, and have to deal with that, and then we have a new owner. And he may decide some people need to stay, and some need to go.

That's definitely a lot to be handling, especially as a show runner. To be juggling that many balls in the air all at the same time, it should be very interesting to see how all those things are resolved.

It's a lot of fun, the season's coming along…we started very early, so we've already shot 11 episodes. We start to shoot our 12th episode, which is a Christmas special, tomorrow morning. And so to really see how this cast, the new cast I guess we'll call it, sort of gels. It's no, I mean as no slight to anyone who's ever been here, but Tom Selleck fits in so well it's as if he's been here from the very beginning, and it's such a strange thing to see. And within three or four minutes of him showing onscreen, you kind of go like, “Wow, it's like he was always here.”

This episode will be a sort of A Christmas Carol or What a Wonderful Life, where "Christmas" versions of Sam and Piper as well as a spirit for Christmas to come show Mike what life at the Montecito would be like without him and what the Christmas spirit is all about. This adventure starts when Mike hits his head when falling down after trying to fix the star on top of his Christmas tree. Sam tries to bring back impulsive Linus Phelps, a 40-year-old whale, to the tables after Helen, a woman who is trying to get people to help the needy, convinced him to spend his money elsewhere. Piper and Delinda took care of the Christmas display in the casino and it is really popular, a little too popular (especially since their Santa is rather hot). The episode will also feature clips from past episodes. Mitch, Danny and Cooper also appear.

According to Thompson, the upcoming season is extra special since it will also include the 100th episode of the show, some exciting new drama with the inclusion of Tom Selleck and some resolution to the cliffhangers unanswered from season 4.

Broadcast on NBC, Las Vegas is a series that follows a team of people working in the fictional Montecito Resort and Casino in Las Vegas as they deal with work issues, including restaurant management, casino security, and many more. It features Danny McCoy, (Josh Duhamel), Mike Cannon, (James Lesure), Samantha Jane "Sam" Marquez, (Vanessa Marcil), DeLinda Deline, (Molly Sims), Jim Cooper, (Tom Selleck), and Piper Nielsen, (Camille Guaty), and many more.

As for how Selleck was cast on Las Vegas, Thompson reveals that they had to come up with a list of actors that will possibly fill in for Jimmy Caan's departure.

“Yeah, we did have a short list. It was ‘call Tom Selleck,' to be very honest. Here's what happened. We got word that Jimmy was leaving to do movies, and we were like ‘Oh my God, we're losing this acting icon, what are we going to do, who are we going to replace this guy with?' First of all, you can't replace Jimmy Caan. I spoke to my casting director and said ‘Give me a list, what are we going to do?' And she – and my wife actually – and I all thought of Tom Selleck, but no one said it out loud. Then, one night my wife said ‘Tom Selleck,' whom I had been thinking of too. I floated his name to Kevin Reilly, and everyone was on board. But everyone had the same question: ‘How are you going to get this guy? You're going to get this guy to be a series regular when he hasn't done that since Magnum? Good luck with that, Gary.' So we floated it out there to his people, and he called me out of the blue. He came in and we talked, and we met about two hours each day for a few days over two weeks, talking about who he would be. We're still developing the character around him as we shoot the show now. We had one direction that we were going to go in, but now we're going in another. We're trying to figure out who this guy is,” he said.

Sam takes care of couple Sherry and Rodney. Sherry used to be slightly overweight like her husband but has lost many pounds since she decided she wanted to fit in her grandmother's wedding dress. When Sherry leaves Sam and Rodney alone, the latter admits to Sam that he doesn't think he can go through with the wedding because he prefers bigger women. Piper freaks out when William, a musician she knows, drops by the casino. Danny and Mike drive to stables where horses are to be auctioned. It looks like they are there to buy a horse for Cooper's ranch. Thing is Mike is allergic to horses! Delinda is still trying to find a chef to replace Wolfgang. Mitch also appears.

5.01: "A Hero Ain't Nothing but a Sandwich", which will air 28th September 2007...

The Montecito is in utter chaos along with the lives of the casino staffers. The murder of Mary's father may have closed a chapter from her past, but leaves everyone else wondering who actually shot him. The list of possible suspects quickly narrows when an incriminating cell phone video mysteriously surfaces. Back at the casino, Ed has the tough task of trying to figure out who robbed the Montecito and if it is an inside job. Meanwhile, Mike and his team are working overtime to solve the murder and robbery and are shocked at what the footage reveals. After barely escaping the explosion, Delinda finally gets the chance to tell Danny her secret. A kidnapped Sam proves to be a tough girl after all, when she tries to escape from her captor thousands of feet in the air. If that isn't enough for one casino to handle, they now have to meet the new mysterious Montecito owner, AJ Cooper.

"When Life Gives You Lemon Bars"

This is an Halloween episode so don't be surprised if it's move at the end of October. However, it was the 10th episode produced this season. Cooper wants to know more about Sam's work. To her displeasure, he wants to shadow her while she takes care of a whale who has been playing in another casino for the past 10 years and has agreed to give Sam a chance. Piper is really into Halloween and even dresses up as a ghoul. We discover that Mike has been dating a teacher named Carley Lauder. The two of them go on a double date with Danny and Delinda. Things go very well between Mike and Carley, to a point he may even think she's the one, but things turn sour when he discovers a secret she's been keeping from him. Will Mike forgive her when she explains why she lied? After Cooper fired Wolfgang Puck from the casino, Delinda tries to hire a pastry chef. Mitch also appears.

A matchmaker for the wealthy, Regina Fairmont, is at the Montecito. Sam tries to enlist Regina's help to get a rich man. Regina sets a date between Sam and a chubby little man named Bob Greene. The latter is immediately smitten but he's not Sam's style at all, plus Sam is not really looking for someone to be with. Danny and Mike keep an eye on a man named Peter Grant and the mysterious woman who is accompanying him. The woman has a past with Cooper. Two Secret Service agents are at the casino and it doesn't look like they are there for pleasure. If she hasn't been introduced in a previous episode, we will meet Danny's assistant, Andrea. Piper, Delinda and Mitch also appear.

Danny and Mike try to help Cooper find who killed a woman and set the scene so that he (Cooper) is the prime suspect. Sam takes care of Cy Lipshitz, known as Long Island's "Brisket King," and his wife wife Beth. The couple is throwing a Bar Mitzvah for their 13-year-old Hershel at the casino and Sam and Delinda will help. Sam enlists Piper's help to take care of Hershel. Expect the "baby-sitting" to not go smootly since Hershel wants to sleep with Piper or get a girlfriend; the kid wants to be a man. Delinda asks Beth some motherly advice. In order to somewhat test their parenting skills, Danny and Delinda each carry an egg around (it looks like other casino employees may play the game too).

Prison Break Actress joins Las Vegas...

As we reported previously, Las Vegas returns with a new season without two of its original cast members, James Caan and Nikki Cox. While most fans already know Caan's replacement in the form of Tom Selleck, another actress has been tapped to fill in the vacancy of Cox's departure.

According to TV Guide, Prison Break's Camille Guaty will be joining the NBC drama as Piper Nielsen, a “feisty new casino host.” She is supposed to be the best concierge on the strip who is not afraid to shape things up and is described as the black sheep of an upscale family.

As of the moment, it hasn't been confirmed if Guaty will appear as a strong recurring character or a series regular. Additionally, the episode in which her character will be introduced on Las Vegas is also unknown.

Guaty, a 29-year-old native of California, was known as Maricruz Delgado, the girlfriend of Fernando Sucre (Amaury Nolasco) on Prison Break. Before she landed the role on the FOX acclaimed drama, she participated on the reality television show Popstars and became one of the 10 semi-finalists. She became part of the Disney Channel Original movie Gotta Kick It Up! and landed the lead role on the short-lived series The Help. Most recently, she was featured as Franny Rios on ABC's The Nine.

Las Vegas season five returns on September 28 with a two-hour premiere on NBC. The dramedy revolves around a team of people working in the fictional Montecito Resort and Casino in Las Vegas as they deal with issues within the working environment, which includes restaurant management, valet parking and security among others. The show stars Josh Duhamel, Vanessa Marcil, James Lesure, Molly Sims, and Tom Selleck.

Former Star moves to bigscreen...

As we reported previously, Las Vegas will be returning for a fifth season without some of its famed cast members. James Caan, who played Ed Deline, former head of security and president of operations of the Montecito Group, will no longer be a series regular on the NBC drama since he has moved on to pursue his movie career.

“I've had a wonderful four years, worked with great people and made friends for life working on Las Vegas. But I'm eager to return to where my heart is, which is film, and due to the show's schedule, I missed some great opportunities to do that… I wish the show and everyone involved with it continued success," Caan told the Hollywood Reporter.

NBC hasn't disclosed any comments regarding his departure although the network's entertainment president Kevin Reilly has commended the cast for consistently satisfying the network's expectations.

Despite his departure, Caan remains open to the possibility of his return to the series as a guest star.

The 67-year-old actor is popularly known for his Academy Award nominated role of Sonny Corleone in the 1972 film The Godfather and its sequel. In addition, he has also gained fame and recognition for portraying Paul Sheldon in Misery, Sgt. Eddie Dohun in A Bridge Too Far, and Brian Piccolo in Brian's Song.

Most recently, he worked on several video games, providing the voice of his infamous mob character Santino 'Sonny' Corleone in The Godfather: Blackhand Edition and The Godfather: The Don's Edition.

At present, Caan is in talks of playing director Raoul Walsh in an upcoming movie about his life.

A new season of Las Vegas airs this coming September and will feature Tom Selleck as the powerful and a high-spirited new owner of the Montecito Resort & Casino. Josh Duhamel, Molly Sims, James Lesure and Vanessa Marcil are also set to return.

Mike tries to educate Danny so he will be a better parent. While at a strip club with Mike and Mitch, Danny meets an old friend Angie Corbett. He got to know her when they were in junior high school. Angie now works as a stripper. Things turn ugly when Angie's boss arrives and says that she is late... again. Since Angie got fired and she was scared to go back home, Danny brings her and her 4-year-old son, also named Danny, to his condo. Let's say Delinda won't be too pleased at first but will soon warm up to Angie and her cause: get better work perks for strippers. Angie and her stripper friends will go on strike! Danny tries to help Angie get her life back in order. Sam takes care of a rich whale who dresses like a tire salesman. Sam will go shopping with her whale. Due to the strippers' strike, Sam tries to convince Piper to keep her whale company. Mike meets up with three married men who want to see strippers. Cooper also appears.

Delinda will soon experience what being a mother can be like when one of Danny's friends and her 4-year-old stay at the condo for a while. Also expect her to freak for a few minutes when she learns the 4-year-old is named Danny, after his father! But not to worry, it's a different Danny.

The episode opens with people lying on the floor of the casino. They are just breathing, not moving much. When Danny comes to, he sees a fire fighter wearing a gas mask and telling him to stay on the floor until the doctors check him out. The casino was robbed and to do so, robbers used gas. Mike and Danny try to find the robbers. Later, Danny calls a meeting with the presidents of operations of other hotels and casinos as the gassing and robbery hurt more than just the Montecito. A few casinos have about 50% cancellations, the airport is empty, etc. Of course, Danny as an idea to resolve the situation. Cooper asks new surveillance tech Oscar to track down where Sam's biggest players like to go, in which room they stay, etc. Sam is at a concert with two rather young whales. Mike goes to the club to bring her back. It almost sounds like Sam is not working at the Montecito... The band Metal Skool may appear.

Danny, who's been sleeping on his office couch for a while in order to catch up on some work, dreams that the casino is broke and that Delinda delivers a Baby Mike. Danny must deal with Bob Casey, a fire fighter who is there for an inspection as one of the Montecito's latest campaign broke a few fire codes. Since Danny is too busy, Delinda tries to convince Sam to come to some baby classes with her. There is a contest where participants have to keep one hand on a car for as long as possible in order to win it. One contestant may be cheating as after 55 hours she still looks refreshed. One of Danny's uncle is at the casino. Danny tries to find a way to throw him out. Cooper and Mitch also appear.

Sam will start having panic attacks after she thinks she saw Vince Peterson alive.

There is a Pacific Tropic Spokesmodel contest at the Montecito. During the competition, contestant Kelly Crever tears off her bikini top, which causes a commotion. Mike investigates the situation. Could someone have tempered with Kelly's bikini so she had to take it off, causing her to maybe lose the competition? Sam is convinced that an upscale and respectable married man murdered a blonde woman at the contest. She also tries to take care of Barry Bertowsky, a frat-boy whale, who wants to "inspect" bikinis and gamble, but lack of sleep and witnessing a murder has Sam not be a very good host. Danny reassigns Barry to Piper. Delinda, who is in her first trimester, is starting to feel self-conscious when comparing her changing body to those of the contestants. Cooper and Mitch also appear. It is possible that Rita from the previous episode appears in this one as well.

TVGuide.com has learned that Camille Guaty, familiar to TV fans from her runs on Prison Break (as Maricruz No. 1) and The Nine, is joining the NBC drama this season as Piper Nielsen, a "feisty new casino host." Hey, as long as they save some "feist" for Sam, I'm down with that. [Note: It is possible Piper is introduced in an earlier episode.]

According to some sources, Prison Break's Camille Guaty (who plays Maricruz on Break) is rumored to have landed the role of Piper, the new casino concierge. [Note: It is possible Piper is introduced in an earlier episode.]

Delinda gets worried when she doesn't have morning sickness. Did she have a miscarriage? She goes to the doctor's to find out. Danny, who shared an office with Mike, moves out of said office as he is getting a bigger one. Thing is his new office (aka Ed's office) is now a Yoga class. Sam takes care of Rita Kagle and her 20-year-old sister. Rita's high roller father just passed away. Rita is at the Montecito because Sam is listed in the will. The man left Sam an item she should remember but Sam doesn't even recall who the deceased is! Sam needs her black book to remember but it is nowhere in sight. Later, Phil Doyle, estate attorney, will read the will. Cooper romances two beautiful women, not knowing that they are ladies of the night. Piper, the new concierge, is in this episode . It's possible she is now named Polly. Dr. Levin from the previous episode also appears but he is not there for Sam.

The role of the concierge described in our 03/30 spoilers below is starting to shape up. The concierge will be in her early 20s and be named Piper Neilson. She is described as the black sheep of an upscale family. She is supposed to be the best concierge on the strip and is not afraid to shape things up. In one of her early scenes, Mike asks Piper about beautiful women at Opus. Piper says that she paid a few taxi drivers to bring stunning women to the Montecito for some high rollers. Mike says that this type of women (he seems to think they are "ladies of the night") aren't allowed in Opus. Piper responds by saying he should check with the new owner as he just invited two of the women to his suite... Later, congratulates Piper for bringing hookers in the Montecito has she as been trying to do so herself for years but Ed always said no. Sam, who is in a great mood, wants to be Piper's new friend but Piper passes! She quickly explains herself by saying she has nothing in common with an oldie like Sam. Of course, expect Sam to try and find things in common to not admit that she is getting old. Piper will either be a strong recurring character or a series regular. [Note: It is not clear when Piper will be introduced and if those scenes will be seen on screen. It now seems that part, if not all of this, will air in episode 5.03.]

Delinda is still pregnant. Danny wants to be supportive but he still can't fully commit as he still doesn't really realize he'll be a father soon.

Sam is at a shrink's office, Dr. Levin. She is there to talk about what happened on the plane, but, as she is Sam, expect her to drift in other directions. Delinda is worried about her parents but Danny soon comforts her by reminding her that Ed Deline can take care of himself. If it is not clear in the premiere, it'll be clear in this episode that Mary left because she allegedly shot her father. The new casino owner, Jim Cooper (played by Tom Selleck), orders a meeting, which makes the staff uneasy. Mike and Mitch investigate when they spot a card counter. Shannon also appears.

Peterson will end up dead. It seems he'll have jumped out of his jet and the landing didn't go as planned.

A detective believes [highlight if you want to be that spoiled.... Danny..........] killed Mary's father.

It seems that James Caan and Niki Cox accepted to be in the premiere to wrap things up. The episode seems to start where the Season 4 finale left off. Vince Peterson still has a hold of Sam. They are in his jet. He gets her out of the trunk... let's say that Sam won't make things easy for him. Danny orders Mary to get away from the crime scene. Who shot Mary's father? Danny gets in his car to rush to the Montecito in order to make sure Delinda is okay (remember she was in a room that went boom!). When Danny arrives, he is told that body parts where found and that no one survived. Is Delinda okay? Mike finds Ed pointing a gun at a gunman in the hope to get info on where another gunman is. Ed flips out at a few FBI agents seem to have no leads on where the man who robbed the casino and killed employees is, even if they have his accomplice in custody. The agents seem to think the robbery was an inside job. Mitch also appears. From the looks of it, the two new regulars may not be introduced in this episode.

I hear a stripper moves in with Danny and Delinda.

Tom Selleck is in talks to fill the void left by the exit of James Caan and join NBC's Las Vegas as the smart, powerful and fun-loving new owner of the Montecito, says the Hollywood Reporter. [Note: Tom Selleck did get the role.]

The series is now casting the parts of a new casino owner and a new concierge. The new casino owner is said to be powerful, smart, and rich but knows how to have fun. They want to hire a male actor in his mid 40s to mid 50s. As for the concierge, they want a sophisticated and stunning woman in her early 20s.

Las Vegas may be returning next season on NBC, but it's doing so without two of its biggest stars. According to sources, James Caan and Nikki Cox will not be part of the show's upcoming fifth season.
